Samuel A. Sjaastad
is a New York-based artist who is known for his range of styles, mediums, and palettes. One of his current projects focuses on the question of the existence of extraterrestrial life.
Using primarily oil on canvas, he presents a variety of ancient and modern skulls and skeletons, and captured images for audiences to examine.
Sam’s previous projects include capturing neighborhood life in a series of oil paintings of local bars, many of which no longer exist. After two decades, these works still evoke nostalgic feelings when viewed in the present-day, and quietly comments on the rapid evolution and impermanence of New York City’s neighborhood life.
Sam’s works have been featured at the renowned NYC’s Webster Hall, and Brooklyn’s Gallery 364 where he was awarded, “Best in Show”.
